Build Diary
Uplift went through a big rebuild in 2024 which you can read about from the very beginning. Of course, robots are always a work in progress so check back soon for more updates!
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 8 – front armour, power light and safety link
21st July 2024 Nearing completion now, but Uplift needs a few smaller jobs finishing up to meet event safety requirements.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 7 – Making top armour and hinged front forks
23rd June 2024 With Uplift's offensive capabilities now finalised, it's time to finish off the top armour and add some forks to the front to help get underneath opponents.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 6 – Lifter motor and gearing
25th May 2024 It's time to fit all the lifter parts into the robot, but first the lift motor needs some minor modifications.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 5 – Adding a lifting arm (Pt 2)
28th April 2024 Now the lifting arm supports are in place, it's time to start thinking about the lifting arm itself.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 4 – Adding a lifting arm (Pt 1)
31st March 2024 Uplift currently has no weapon - the original plan was to add an electric axe, but for weight and space reasons I'm going to try a lifting arm instead.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 3 – A new baseplate (and other miscellaneous small jobs)
17th March 2024 The original 5mm thick HDPE baseplate needed upgrading to 10mm. There were also some small jobs to do before moving onto the next big task - adding a lifting arm.
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 2 – New wheels
8th March 2024 Uplift needs a better way to hold it's wheels on. Or perhaps just new wheels entirely?
-
Uplift Rebuild Part 1 – Setting goals and scoping out the work needed
3rd March 2024 At the start of 2024, I decided it was finally time to bring my half-finished Featherweight robot from 2017 back to life.
